The River Hawks opened the year by playing Seneca Valley, in that October game Armstrong lost 7-2. In this match-up the score wound up being closer, but Seneca Valley was able to snatch momentum early.

The Raiders and River Hawks were scoreless through the first fifteen minutes of the first period, but Seneca Valley’s Matt Blazewick was able to find the back of the net with 2:56 to go in the first period. Before many had time to take in what just happened the Raiders piled on with another goal to take a 2-0 lead into the second period.

In the second period the Raiders jumped to a 4-0 lead before Armstrong’s Herik Milliron scored an unassisted goal to draw the River Hawks to within three, down 4-1 heading into the third and final period.

Armstrong and Seneca Valley would be left off the scorecard in the third period as the score at the end of the game was 4-1.

Armstrong Head Coach Doug Anthony and the River Hawks have had to deal with their fair share of injuries during their 9-game losing steak. Anthony thinks if they can get the first goal things could be different.

“We haven’t gotten the first goal in a game in the past nine games and we’re always behind, it’s hard to play from behind,” Anthony said.

The River Hawks will have five more games this season to break their losing skid. Their next game is against Central Catholic at the Alpha Complex on Tuesday, January 31 at 9:00 PM.
