State Senator Sworn Back into Office for Final Term

Just after noon January 3, state Senator Don White was sworn into office during a ceremony in the Senate Chamber of the Pennsylvania State Capitol, beginning his fifth term as the official advocate for the nearly 244,000 residents of the 41st Senatorial District.
“Swearing-in day is always a special event, traditionally filled with pomp and ceremony. I look forward to getting down to business as quickly as possible to address the important issues facing Pennsylvania, especially public pension reform and property tax elimination,” Senator White said. “We must also continue striving to improve Pennsylvania’s economy and promote job creation. Those are just some of the challenges that I look forward to addressing during this new legislative session.”
White, who has been in office since 2000, received more than 45,000 votes in Armstrong and Indiana County in November to retain his senatorial seat– more than 23,000 in Indiana and more than 22,000 in Armstrong.
Those vote totals vastly outmatched Democratic challenger Tony DeLoreto – who received more than a combined 17,200 votes – and USA Minutemen candidate Stanley Buggey (more than 3,700 votes).
Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati recently reappointed Senator White to serve as Chairman of the Senate Banking & Insurance Committee for the 2017-18 Legislative Session.
“I am honored to continue serving as the Chairman of the Senate Banking & Insurance Committee,” Senator White said. “I expect the committee will again be extremely active over the upcoming two years. We will certainly be following the anticipated changes to the federal Affordable Care Act that will likely come out of Washington early next year. I also anticipate that we also will be looking at other aspects of the healthcare marketplace.”
Senator White has chaired the Banking and Insurance Committee since 2007. He chaired the Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee from 2003 to 2006 and the Senate Intergovernmental Affairs Committee for the 2001-02 Legislative Session.
The 41st Senatorial District includes all of Armstrong and Indiana Counties as well as parts of Butler and Westmoreland Counties.

Thank you Don White for going at it again. Your two goals, property tax elimination and public pension reform will make Pennsylvania great again. Pennsylvania government is just too expensive and that has people leaving (42,000 last year) and has business and industry avoiding coming in. If we’re not open for business, more just plain leave - some must in search of work.
