Ford City Borough council members have formally agreed to borrow more than $75,000 for a stormwater pump.
By a 5-0 vote last night, Borough Council will adhere to the recommendation Gibson-Thomas Vice-President Ed Schmitt made at the end of December.
“The lower station only has one functioning pump,” Schmitt said in December.
The small projects loan was authorized after officials did seek prices in September. At that time, it would have cost about $54,000 without installation or rebuild and included a four-month delivery timeframe.
New Borough Solicitor Alyssa Golfieri prepared the resolution stating the money would be borrowed from S&T Bank – which has a branch office in downtown Ford City.
“The Borough is taking out a small borrowing loan under the Local Government Unit Debt Act for the stormwater plant – we need a new pump,” Golfieri said.
Construction of the new treatment plant is progressing, with about a third of the total project complete and even including aesthetic improvements along the exterior.
The two pumps were purchased through the state cooperative purchasing program, COSTARS.

The lower pump where? On 5th Ave? If so, it has been that way for many years and that would be the reason that basements flood in that area?

So, they get a loan despite past history of not paying back loans?
Interesting…
What about bad credit?
