The Karns City Gremlins (10-3) traveled to DuBois to take on the 12-1 Central Dragons on Friday in the PIAA Class 3A Quarter-Finals, but the Gremlins were unable to overcome the Dragons - losing 36-21.

Central’s senior playmaker Alex Hoenstine gave the Gremlins fits the whole game as he lined up at quarterback, running-back, and in the wildcat for a combined 335 yards (15 receiving, 66 passing, 254 rushing) and 5 rushing touchdowns to help the Dragons cruise to victory.

The Gremlins were within a point of taking the lead after Chandler Turner rushed fora 1-yard score on fourth down in the third quarter to make the score 14-13 Central.

Central would then scored and converted a 2-point conversion on the following drive to take a 22-13 lead.

The Gremlins weren’t ready to roll over. Down 29-13 Karns City QB Jacob King completed a 49-yard touchdown strike to Chandler Turner. King then found Cullen Williams for the 2-point conversion to make the score 29-21.

That’s as close as the Gremlins would get however as Central ate up a large portion of the fourth quarter leaving Karns City with just 3:30 to play.

The Dragons will now travel to Mansion Park Stadium in Altoona to take on the 11-1 Beaver Falls Beavers on Friday December 2 at 7:00 PM.
