Karns City Rolls Past Hickory in First Round of State Playoffs
The Karns City Gremlins will advance to the PIAA 3A semi-finals after defeating Hickory on Saturday 35-17. The Gremlins will travel to Dubois this Friday to take on Central (Martinsburg).

After a back and forth first half the Karns City Gremlins (10-2) pulled away to defeat the formerly undefeated Hickory Hornets (12-1).
In the first half Hickory jumped out to a 7-0 lead thanks to a Chuck Carr 4-yard-run with 9:50 left in the first quarter.
It didn’t take long for Karns City to answer though. At 8:18 in the first quarter Jimmy Thompson caught a 55 yard touchdown pass from Jimmy King to tie the game at 7-7. Karns City would score another touchdown in the first when Chandler Turner ripped through the Hornets defense for a 55 yard TD run.
At half-time Hickory entered the locker room with a 17-14 lead thanks to a Will Gruber kickoff return for a TD with 4:21 left in the first quarter and a field goal in the second quarter.
After half-time it was all Karns City as the Gremlins scored 21 unanswered points - Chandler Turner started the second half scoring thanks with his second rushing touchdown of the game and Cullen Williams added two rushing touchdowns himself to help Karns City reach the 35-17 final score.
The Gremlins will head to Dubois this Friday for the PIAA 3A Semi-Finals against Cebtral (Martinsburg) Dragons (11-1) with kickoff set for 7:00 PM.
