It was an evening for celebration at West Shamokin High School last night as the Wolves football program celebrated their players at the annual awards banquet.

It was a fun and light atmosphere at West Shamokin Thursday night as the ceremony was going happening, but for the seniors it was bitter sweet as this was possibly the last time the team would all be together.

Senior quarterback Devin Fairman was proud of how the team preformed this season, but will surely miss his playing with his teammates.

“ It was an awesome ride with these guys. I couldn’t ask for a happier turn out for this season. This team is like my second family, I love every single one of themselves. This was the final time that we are all going to be together, I don’t even know what to say,” said Fairman.

West Shamokin’s Varsity Head Coach Jon McCullough always enjoys these events, especially with the group of guys he had this season.

“It’s nice, the thing that’s always nice is when you have a specialness in your group like we had this year. It’s just one more opportunity to say thanks to them for everything that they have done,” McCullough said.

The award winners include – MVP Austin Harris, offensive player of the year Devin Fairman, and defensive player of the year Curt Slagle.

After all was said and done defensive player of the year Curt Slagle said he was going to miss the seniors and is looking forward to a good senior year.

“I’m going to definitely miss (the seniors), but we’re definitely going to hit the weight room hard this off season and hopefully come back next year and have a better season and build on that.”
