West Shamokin Loses at Homer Center 26-20

The West Shamokin Wolves (4-4) are back at .500 for the season as they fell to the Homer Center Wildcats (7-1) by a final score of 26-20.

The Wolves had a tough time moving the ball at the start of the game before Jacob Szul rushed about 15-yards in the second quarter to bring the Wolves within one point of the Wildcats at 7-6.

The game would go back and forth, but West Shamokin was never able to get a lead in the game.

A little later in the game Jacob Szul was injured and had to come out of the game due to a bruised shoulder. That’s when Bryce McClafferty filled in and stepped up for the Wolves.

McClafferty finished the game with an interception, a forced fumble, a receiving touchdown, and he caught a pass on a two point conversion play to bring West Shamokin within six points of the Wildcats. After the game Bryce stopped by the press box to talk about his performance.

Head Coach Jon McCullough knew his team had a real shot to win, but the Wolves just couldn’t capitalize on the turnovers they forced.

The Wolves next game will be at home on Friday against Northern Cambria for senior night.
