The Armstrong River Hawks (6-1) football season is winding down and they are in for what could be the toughest test on their remaining regular season schedule.
With three games left in the season Armstrong heads into tonight’s match-up with a two game winning streak after dominating up on a couple of 0-6 teams in Plum (56-28) and Greater Latrobe (69-16).
Tonight the River Hawks will have some tougher competition as they host the 5-2 Penn-Trafford Warriors.
The Warriors come into this match-up on a bit of losing streak. After starting the season 5-0 the Warriors have last their last two match-ups against Gateway 23-6 and last week against Franklin Regional 21-16.
The Warriors bring a balanced offense with a committee of running-backs and their quarterback Cam Laffoon who has thrown for 1,124 yards, 14 touchdowns, and only 3 interceptions, but the Warriors true strength is their defense.
The Warriors defense has only 13.7 points-per-game, but they haven’t had a test quite like River Hawks running-back Zane Dudek (2,202 yards) who has already broken the WPIAL record for rushing yards on a season and for a game.
Last week against Latrobe Dudek scored six touchdowns in the first half before being taken out in the second half.
The game will be at home for the River Hawks with Kickoff set for 7:00 PM. As always you can listen live on WTYM 1380 AM.
