A local student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania has been named to IUP’s 2016 Homecoming Crimson Court.

Cara Masters, an early childhood and special education major from Nixon Street, Kittanning, will represent the College of Education and Educational Technology.

She is the daughter of Andrea and Carl Masters Jr. and is a 2013 graduate of Kittanning Senior High School. She is a dean’s list student and is a Sutton Scholar. She is a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, National Association for the Education of Young Children, Council for Exceptional Children, Pennsylvania State Educators Association, Special Needs Activities Program, and works in the IUP Phonathon. She also participated in the Autism Speaks Philanthropy Events, raising more than $15,000.

Students are chosen for the Crimson Court by a university-wide vote. To qualify for the Crimson Court, students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and be in good judicial standing at IUP.

The Crimson Court members are invited to participate in all Homecoming activities, including the annual Homecoming parade, and will be featured at appropriate academic department and college events. Court members represent each of the university’s academic colleges and the Punxsutawney campus.

IUP celebrates Homecoming this Saturday.

Masters was also a former ‘Miss Armstrong County’ pageant winner and a thespian while at Kittanning Senior High School.
