The West Shamokin Wolves Get Their First Win of the Season
The West Shamokin Wolves (1-2) picked up their first win of the season by a final score of 28-14 Friday night at home against the Purchase Line Red Dragons (0-3) .
In a match between two teams searching for their first win it didn’t take long for sparks to fly.
On the first possession of the game the Red Dragons methodically drove the ball down the field to give Purchase Line the 8-0 lead after the Shamar Campbell touchdown and 2-point conversion.
The Wolves didn’t take long to answer as QB Devin Fairman scored his first touchdown of the night followed by the Drew Orlosky extra point which would draw the Wolves to within one point of the Red Dragons.
The tide really swung after that touchdown as West Shamokin was able to recover three fumbles for great field position each time.
Devin Fairman wasn’t done there as he would go on to lead the Wolves in rushing with 157 yards and three touchdowns. In between Fairman’s touchdowns Bryce McClafferty scored his first varsity touchdown.
After the game, I got a chance to chat with Devin Fairman about his excellent performance.
I also got the chance to catch up with Wolves Head Coach Jon McCullough, who was very happy with the way his team performed.
Next Week West Shamokin will head off to United before coming back home to face Marion Center.
As always you can listen to every West Shamokin snap on the WTYM App, WTYMradio.com, or the rebroadcast Saturdays starting at 1:00 PM.
