The DeLuca Dome: How West Shamokin Can Defeat Purchase Line

Yesterday the Wolves practiced special teams with Punter/Kicker/SE/CB/Do it all guy Drew Orlosky in hopes to gain an edge in field position Friday night in their first home game of the season against the Purchase Line Red Dragons.

After another loss on Friday night against the Penns Manor Comets the West Shamokin Wolves find themselves in a less than desirable spot at 0-2 on the season. This week the Wolves will look to bounce back against the Purchase Line
Red Dragons, a team they beat last season.
Both Purchase Line and West Shamokin come into this game searching for their first win. Purchase lines two losses came at the hands of Homer-Center by a final score of 49-44 and most recently the Red Dragons lost to Blairsville 42-12.
So what can we expect from this match-up?
Well, West Shamokin beat the Red Dragons last year, but this is a very different Wolves team. Last year the Wolves now graduated quarterback Brandon Stover put up over 200 yards of offense both on the ground (193 yards) and through the air (77 yards) and accounted for three of the teams touchdowns (2 rushing and 1 passing) in the game last season.
This year the Wolves will hope to get that type of production from their stable of ball carriers including QB Devin Fairman who is the man who replaced Brandon Stover this year at quarterback.
Another couple players to look out for include running-back Jacob Szul who in the past two games showed he can be counted on in the passing game as well as the running game and Sophomore fullback Daniel Goldstrohm who was the Wolves go-to-guy against Penns Manor when he finished with a team-high 92 yards rushing at a clip of 6.1 yards per carry.
For the Wolves to earn their first win of the season they will need to shut down the dynamic trio for Purchase Line; WR Dominique Cambell, RB Melvin Sanchez, and RB Lucas Syster. Last year Sanchez lead the Red Dragons in yardage with 92 yards and a touchdown (according to MaxPreps.com) so slowing him down will be crucial for the Wolves success.
The Wolves will have home field advantage for this game as they hope to earn there first win in front of their home crowd.
The game will start at 7:00 PM and as always you can here yours truly call the game live on www.WTYMradio.com, the WTYM mobile App, or you can listen to the rebroadcast at 1:00 PM Saturday the day after the game.
