Nearly 70 Arrests Made during “Operation Nighthawk”

Officers from 18 local police departments collaborated with Pennsylvania State Police personnel September 2 and 3 to ensure a safe Labor Day holiday for traveling motorists throughout western Pennsylvania
Results are in from this past weekend’s “Operation Nighthawk” safety patrols by State and local police.
According to Pennsylvania State Police Lieutenant Chris Yanoff - the Kittanning station commander -, 450 motorists were stopped in various locations of Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler and Westmoreland Counties September 2 and 3 as they celebrated the Labor Day Weekend.
Police personnel also registered 37 Driving Under the Influence arrests, as well as nearly two dozen other misdemeanor arrests and 10 other felony arrests.
The patrols came after the 73 police officers - of which included from 11 municipal police departments in Armstrong County as well as Kittanning state police personnel - underwent training at Armstrong Junior/Senior High School in Manor Township.
A total of 279 traffic warnings were issued during the two-day training/enforcement program.
