Annual Habitat 5K Raised Funds for Future Projects

by Jake DeLuca

A total of 64 runners, ranging in age from 8 to 81, participated in Armstrong Habitat for Humanity’s Sixth Annual Raise the Roof 5K race near the Richard G. Snyder YMCA in Kittanning on Saturday, Aug. 6.

This event helped raise funds for future Habitat projects including roof repair, Women Build, and construction on Habitat homes for qualifying families in Armstrong County.

Participants in the 5,000 meter (3.1 mile flat course) had the opportunity to partner with our organization by recruiting their own sponsors.

The top trio of fundraisers received gift cards for their outstanding support. In addition, participants’ names will be drawn at random to receive door prizes donated by local businesses.

Registered racers came from not only Kittanning and Ford City, but also from areas such as North Huntington, Butler and NuMine to participate in the annual festivities.

Organizers thanked more than a dozen businesses and organizations that sponsored the event and made it a success.
