Churches Unite for National Day of Prayer Yesterday

The Reverend Walt Marr does his personal rendition of “What Does the Flag Mean?” at last night’s prayer service at St. Paul Episcopal Church.

In separate events throughout Armstrong County, Christians gathered together to pray during the National Day of Prayer emphasis.

The day started outside the Armstrong County Court House as Harvest Community Church led prayer in the parking lot.

During the day, Family-Life Church in Kittanning made their chapel available throughout the day to anyone of any denomination to come for a time of personal prayer and reflection.

In the Rural Valley area, parishioners assembled at Shannock Park in early evening to pray.

The day was finalized as pastors from Worthington, Ford City, and Kittanning came together for more than an hour last night at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kittanning to pray for the Nation, the Commonwealth, County officials, Emergency workers, the Media, School personnel, and the Family. Emphasis was also place on praying about the drug epidemic that families are facing.

The evening vigil was held last year in the parking lot of the Armstrong High School, but scheduling conflicts moved it to the Episcopal church.
