Ford City Ambulance personnel transported two adults to a local hospital yesterday evening after a two-vehicle collision in North Buffalo Township.

At approximately 6PM, Ford City and Ford Cliff volunteer firefighters, along with North Buffalo Township and Ford City Borough police, were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident along Cadogan-Slatelick Road (State Route 128) near Union Baptist Church.

A pair of Ford City ambulances also arrived on scene, and according to North Buffalo Township Police, took both drivers – identified as Megan Cherry and Jay Szymanski - to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township with “moderate” injuries.

According to North Buffalo Township Police Chief Jason Hufhand, Cherry was passing other vehicles while traveling in a white Nissan Murano SL toward Cadogan, but did not notice Szymanski‘s black Dodge Dart Limited in the opposite lane.

Both cars swerved the same direction off the roadway and hit each other head-on, stopping beside a tree.

Firefighters diverted traffic onto Cemetery Road while Morris Tire and Duncan’s Towing crews loaded the two vehicles onto flatbed trucks.

According to Ford City Fire Chief Ron Wojcik, both vehicles were totaled.

Crews were back in service about 45 minutes later.

About 20 minutes into the incident, West Kittanning firefighters and Kittanning #6 Ambulance were also dispatched to a two-vehicle accident along Butler Road in front of Mel’s Pizzeria.

However, no injuries were reported and it was classified by local police as a “non-reportable” accident since both drivers wanted to vacate the scene.

Firefighters were also only on-scene on Butler Road for a short time.

Are you sure that this is Cadogan - Slate Lick road? That road is all 35 mph with absolutely no passing zones anywhere.
