Mulroy Sworn In As New School Director

Elected or re-elected Armstrong School Board directors were sworn in by Magisterial District Judge James Owen before last night’s open caucus session.

Before the open caucus session began, Magisterial District Judge James Owen, of Kittanning, swore in the five school directors elected or re-elected during the 2015 Election.

Along with newly-elected Region II Board Director Rick Mulroy, Dr. Paul Lobby, Chris Choncek, Amy Lhote and Stan Berdell were all re-elected.

“I’m anxious to get my feet wet,” Mulroy said. “Hopefully I can help out in some way and do some good.

“It’s a good district. I think they’re off to a good start with the new buildings and keeping everything in-line.”

Mulroy, of Ford City, became Region I Representative after Larry Robb did not seek re-election.

One of the aspects he thought he brought to the board was on-display last night when he commented with Business Manager Sam Kirk on the possible purchase of a dump truck with plow and hopper spreader for salt at Armstrong Junior-Senior High in Manor Township.

Mulroy was Director of Support Services in Armstrong School District until his retirement in 2006 and also finished the West Hills Intermediate building project.

“Maintenance, custodial and transportation are my strengths – when (Director of Facilities and Property Services Bill Henley) or those guys need assistance, they can bounce it off me. I’m always available, and a lot of things I already went through,” Mulroy said.

He thought the dump truck will eventually pay for itself instead of contracting with other companies

Mulroy and wife, Delores, also had four children that attended Armstrong schools. His youngest daughter attended Armstrong Central in the early-1990’s.

Region I Board Director Joseph Close was reelected as Board President by his fellow school directors. He said afterward that he appreciated the support.

And once again we have a clueless out of touch board member… He must being getting his information from the papers which paint this beautiful Monet like picture of ASD when really it is as screwed up as a Salvidor Dali painting…
