Police Need Clues to Plumcreek Labor Day Accident

Pennsylvania State Police are baffled how a Salem, Ohio man ended up lying in the middle of the northbound lane of Route 210.

The incident occurred shortly after 3AM on Labor Day about one mile north of Route 422 in Plumcreek Township.

A motorist reported the incident.

The man was identified as 41-year-old Scott C. Baird on Salem, Ohio.

According to police, Baird had severe injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment, but has not been able to give police information about he came to be injured and laying on the roadway.

The Pennsylvania State Police have again looked to the public for help. Trooper Short released the following request:

“At this time, we are asking that anyone who was traveling on State Route 210 approximately one mile north of State Route 422 between the hours of 11PM on Sunday, September 6 and 3:30 AM on Monday, September 7 to contact the State Police Barracks in Kittanning at 724-543-2011. The department is attempting to ascertain any information which would indicate who may have inadvertently struck the victim. This includes anyone who had any personal interaction with the victim or anyone who may have seen him in the described area.”

Police thanked Citizens EMS and the Elderton Volunteer Fire Department for their assistance that night at the scene.
