OBIT: Joan L. (Walter) Gray (East Franklin Township)

Joan L. (Walter) Gray, 75 of East Franklin Township, passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

She was born August 13, 1940 to the late-William H. Walter, Sr. and Nellie Madge (Toy) Walter in Cowansville.

She was married January 18, 1963 to Paul E. Gray. They spend 47 years together before his death on March 25, 2010. They lived in Erie for 30 years before retiring back home in Kittanning to be near to family.

Joan enjoyed camping, reading and crafts of all types - especially ceramics where she ran a small business and taught classes for many years.

She made friends with everyone she met.

Joan was a member of the Walkchalk Salem Baptist Church where she grew up and was active since her youth as a BYF member and Sunday school teacher.

Joan is survived by her mother, Madge Walter of East Franklin Township; two sons: Scott Gray (Jodi) of Erie and Brian Gray (Kim Rowe) of Erie; daughter; Lisa Pongratz of East Franklin Township; granddaughter, Melayna Pongratz; three grandsons: Jensen Gray, Cody Martinez and Jace Wolz; three sisters: Nel Walter; Sandy Brumbaugh (Butch) and Linda Hooks (Blair); two brothers-in-law; Bill Gray (Connie) and Les Gray (Sue); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Gray; her father, William H. Walter, Jr.; father-in-law, Thomas W. Gray, Sr.; mother-in-law, Daisy Gray-Schaeffer; and step father-in-law, Jess Schaeffer.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM today - Wednesday, August 26, 2015 - at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Cowansville.

Additional visitation will be available from 11AM until the time of funeral services at noon tomorrow - Thursday, August 27, 2015 - at the Walkchalk Salem Baptist Church.

The Rev. Chuck Lane will be officiating.

Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
