Contributions Continue through Marcellus Shale Legacy Fund

Armstrong County Commissioners Rich Fink, David Battaglia and Bob Bower spoke on the most-recent two contributions to local groups from Marcellus Shale Legacy Funding.

by Jonathan Weaver

Armstrong County Commissioners acknowledged or adopted resolutions appropriating a total $6,000 from the Marcellus Shale Legacy Fund earlier this month.

According to Marcellus Shale Coordinator Carly Cowan, the three commissioners adopted to give $2,500 toward the Freeport Renaissance Association to help install a new community dock in Freeport Community Park.

Freeport Borough Councilman Ron Gallagher said the goal was for boaters to be able to come into town to shop and dine. He said the dock cost a total of about $102,000, with the Freeport Renaissance Association raising more than $30,000.

“The ladies and gentlemen worked for about eight years raising money for this. Thanks to grants from the Fish Commission and the County, they were able to do this,” Gallagher said. “We have 120 feet of docking space down there now for people coming up or down river.

It’s available for anyone to dock there, no charge.”

Commissioner Rich Fink asked for Gallagher to give the volunteers well-wishes and thanks for their efforts.

“I think volunteering is a big part of Armstrong County – that’s what makes things happen,” Fink said.

Commissioner Bob Bower said Freeport is one of Armstrong County’s ‘gateways’.

County commissioners attended a ceremony in the middle of June to dedicate the dock.

Renaissance officials are also preparing for their annual September by the River festival September 19 and 20 vended by local non-profits

County commissioners also donated $3,500 to GAI Consultants – which maintains seven locations throughout Pennsylvania – on behalf of the Armstrong County Airport Authority from the Marcellus Shale Legacy Fund for a feasibility study at McVille Airport in South Buffalo Township.

In July, commissioners designated $5,000 from the legacy fund toward the Armstrong County Tourist Bureau’s effort to designate a portion of the Allegheny River as a water trail.

    Scott,

The comment you made about me being racist towards white people in private was uncalled for. My wife is white and we have a family. I know you said this to get a negative reaction from me and you won’t have one. I’ve dealt with people like you before and found it’s best to not sink to their level.

Bluto is right. You’ve contradicted yourself by calling me a closet racist (with zero proof) after becoming upset over my questioning of Jorn’s proven (sandpeople) and possible (boofer) racist remarks.

You’re listing of city sections was nice, however you missed a key factor. I actually had said that inner city was NOT a racist term.

Out of all of the people on this thread I think you’re the only person that has been incapable of a rational discussion other than the usual (Jensen).

  • By steve, September 1, 2015 @ 4:56 PM

    wo-man,

There are quite a few who identify with the left here and not one “nailed” you for using it. I think you’ve come across another conservative fable like Jorn’s “Patricia Harrington” episode.

It’s interesting that you’re trying to tell me what should offend me.

The sandpeople comment happened word for word as quoted earlier in this thread. You also immediately began to call me a race baiter and Jensen called me the “ultimate racist” for calling him out on it.

Hopefully you learn from it and realize that sometimes small people do say racist things and calling them out on it isn’t always race baiting.

  • By worthingtonman, September 1, 2015 @ 7:18 PM

    Steve
#1 I never said I was called racist for using the term on this blog. I told you I was called racist for using it. Your inability to move to accept anything against your own views is very telling. Anybody googling the term would read several different articles declaring how the words we considered racist. Your refusal to even acknowledge that you had the decency to google thee term before lecturing me shows your blinders. You tell me and others to be flexible. Really?? I believe I said I do not find it racist and was just making a point . Educate yourself then come back and say you at least googled it.
#2 I never told you how you should feel about the word. Just because you are black. You can learn new things everyday. Today at work I was having a smoke on the back dock. Two of my employees, both black, we’re talking about a high speed chase that happened last our shop on route 65. They did not know u was there and we’re watching from up in the shop. Chuck, government fraud extraordinare, came by on his motor cycle and stopped to ask the cop on the scan about the accident. At least I assume that was what he was doing. One of the guys hollered snitch at him. And the other guy called him a Cotten tailed mother f…….. . Thankfully Chuck did not hear them. I counseled them and asked them what a cotton tailed mother f….. Was and they simply told me “Chuck” . The whole scene was ugly and I told them that. I can only assume it was a racist comment. So I learned something new today. Ugly as it might be.

Can somebody get Starr some Midol and a box of tissues?

  • By Just sayin, September 1, 2015 @ 10:54 PM

    Wo…man:
You gave me hell and hounded me over writing the words, “anal intercourse,” which had something to do with one of the definitions of “boofer,” (Jensen’s word) and then YOU quote “mother f____?”

Now what if I would write that you’re not a gentleman by flip flopping what you meant and act like YOU wrote the words. THAT’S what you did to me.

I’m not going to do that to you.

You need to stop drinking that Worthington whiskey. (Just kidding when I say that.)

Your government-fraud extraordinaire, “Chuck,” is no extraordinaire. He should have never gotten married in the first place. He should have just lived with his woman 3 weeks out of a month and it would have been legal.

  • By worthingtonman, September 2, 2015 @ 7:55 AM

    @ just sayin

Big difference. I was quoting what a fella said. You chose the foulest possible definition for a slang word you could find. you just can not quit writing those words….. Maybe it is a bit chauvinistic of me, but I am accustomed to ladies acting like ladies. I can understand listening to men talk like that (shop talk) but really none of the ladies I associate with would have chosen that definition to post.
I will apologize for the typing of the word, although I did come quite short of typing the entire word. I think that is the proper way to quote less than appropriate words.
I am not sure what community you reside in Just sayin so I can not disparage your community. Although I sure can appreciate some good Bourbon now and again!

    Hi Scott-

Congratulations. You found where I questioned admin for deleting a post of mine. The reason I questioned it was that my comment was only a link to their own paper that I had posted earlier in that thread. I added it again and apparently that wasn’t allowed.

I didn’t call anyone names or wrongfully accuse someone of being racist (as you did to Steve). I may have had some heated discussions with jorn in the past, but I won’t go down to the level you have in the past few days.

P.S. What is the difference between adding a link to an old thread vs. copying and pasting an old quote? Something tells me not a whole lot… lol

  • By Just sayin, September 2, 2015 @ 10:50 AM

If the Earth were bleeding, would you put a Band Aid on it?

  • By scott_starr, September 2, 2015 @ 7:39 PM

Why Steve, I am surprised that you think I called you a closet racist. That is not the case at all. The word racist was not written
All I meant by the comment was I am glad you didn’t write anything about white people so it is not misconstrued, I would hate for someone to twist your words so as to make you look bad.

It’s true, I don’t know what you say in private, what I was saying is that I’m sure you say mostly nice stuff about everyone, and I really don’t know how you could take this any other way.
And as for going after the lowest common denominator, obviously that meant that you very often use innuendo in your comments.

I was looking out for you. I mean, I was just sayin’.

( Steve, what I did was take a page out of several folks playbook who write on here. See, I wrote something that if someone would be offended ( knowing full well they would be), I can twist it to their misunderstanding. Perhaps not entirely successful but it is in the same vane as what they do, and you as well as others defend it, I guess it is not viewed favorably when the table is turned.).

I am not at all upset about your calling out the sandperson comment. That was wrong100%, absolutely and unequivocally. Re-read what I wrote the first time.
The boofer comment, I’ve never heard that word, definitions were all over the place, but OK I can see where someone could say a conscience effort was made to find that specific word.

So, you see, Steve, you used the LCD ( saying I was upset that you called out Jensen, I was upset at your innuendo which I specifically and succintly stated.

Now, I’m trying to figure out how I contradicted myself, but I’m sure someone will point out using the usual convoluted “logic”.

It’s very easy to have a conversation with me, you may want to try it once, rather than making stuff up.

    Lying Pantywaist Fool!

  • By scott_starr, September 2, 2015 @ 7:57 PM

    @Steve:
In all sincerity ( and I know you won’t believe it, but I truly mean it).

Wishing you and your family the best.

Signing off of this particular thread…

  • By Just sayin, September 2, 2015 @ 8:35 PM

    Wo-man: Get real, will ya?

I listed a couple of versions of the boofer definition. I didn’t “choose” that one (for the millionth time). I chose the racist definition for Jorn. Will you just stop?

I don’t talk shop talk. Men shouldn’t talk that way, either.

But, it is chauvinistic of you to feel that men can but women can’t.

You are a prude, too. A___ intercourse (is that better?)is common to gays and some couples.

How do you get a woman’s attention? Do you yell like Jerry Lewis, “HEY, LADY!” to gain her attention?

I was uncomfortable with the sexual definition, as well.

The word you “quoted” is by far the worst swear word out there. It’s so disrespectful to mothers and women in general.

We each have our own words to cringe about, I guess.

So you don’t think I’m polite. It is clear that I am… to normal readers.
I can’t squeeze water out of a stone.

Let’s be done with this. Go drink a bourbon and have a toast to all the ladies you know.

One of the 5 worst states for black Americans:

    5. Pennsylvania

    > Pct. residents black: 11.0%

    > Black homeownership rate: 43.1% (14th highest)

    > Black incarceration rate: 3,269 per 100,000 people (10th highest)

    > Black unemployment rate: 14.4% (15th highest)

    > Unemployment rate, all people: 7.5% (20th highest)

While some 28% of Pennsylvania’s black population did not have health insurance last year, only 8.5% of the white population did not, a difference of 20 percentage points. Also, as in the majority of the states on this list, African-American children faced larger obstacles to opportunities than their white classmates — much more than black children faced nationwide. Geographical segregation may partly explain the discrepancy in educational outcomes. A number of Pennsylvania cities, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg, were identified in a recent analysis by the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research as among the nation’s 20 most racially-segregated cities. In addition, black state residents were nearly nine times more likely than their white peers to go to prison, a larger incarceration rate gap than the vast majority of states.

Please skip over this post above Mr. Pantywaist, don’t want your sliver tongue version of the post Ha,Ha,Ha…

Scott’s backpedaling so fast, you’d think he was doing the moonwalk. What a joke.

  • By jd718, September 3, 2015 @ 10:23 AM

@ Marc, He said it was a legit mistake on his part, sure it was. LOL

  • By blutoblutarsky, September 3, 2015 @ 12:40 PM

    Scott,

Think whatever you want. I’m not the one referencing South Park episodes, insulting an African American poster and his family, fabricating work stories to show a stand against racism, calling people derogatory names or generally acting slimy. If this is your perception of being “on earth” then I’d rather stay where I am with some other generally good folks.

  • By steve, September 3, 2015 @ 2:17 PM

    Sorry Scott,

I think you’re condascending and I can’t accept your “sincere best whishes for my family” because I don’t think you’re an honest person.

  • By jd718, September 4, 2015 @ 2:12 AM

Glad to see some of the Good posters keeping it real. Tell these insincere jokers just how it is…

  • By worthingtonman, September 4, 2015 @ 8:35 AM

So this is how it works on the board here. If you are a liberal, and attack, pile on, harass and belittle a conservative then you are a good poster keeping it real? If you are a conservative poster, you are a insincere joker. If you are a conservative and maybe insinuate a Liberal may be racially biased then you are condescending and not an honest person? Give me a break. It is no wonder that in a county that is predominately conservative, you get very little conservatives debating here. I will post a brief synopsis of what I think of a few of you. Just to be condescending and an insincere joker.
Scott Star: I have known you for a long time. I know your son and I can tell you what a great young man he is. He has been to my house a few times and you can not ask for a more polite child. As I am sure you are, you should be very proud.

jd718: You sir are a complete inbred jerk who obviously has some deep rooted problems. Of all the people who post on here you are probably by far the lowest common denominator in the gene pool. You sir are the Pantywaist.

Just sayin: I am really starting to believe that you are actually not a woman and actually one of the other posters here trying to drum up the Liberal commenters. You have a foul mind and have no problem typing a foul description of a word and then not having the guts to admit that you purposely used it for shock purpose. I treat all ladies with the utmost respect. You maam are no lady. You actually disgust me.
