OBIT: Helen Faye Miller (Apollo)

Helen Faye (Ross) Miller, 75, of Apollo, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Allegheny Valley Hospital.

She was born November 20, 1939, in Leechburg, to Clarence A. and Martha E. (Smith) Ross.

Helen was a lifetime resident of the Apollo and New Kensington areas and attended Salina Bible Church, where she served as the youth group leader for 15 years and was also the church organist for 20 years.

For 27 years, she worked as a school bus driver for Moore Bus Company.

She was a former member of the Tri-Township Homemakers of Leechburg and enjoyed camping, canning fruits and vegetables, and gospel singing.

Helen’s favorite place to be was with her family, especially her grandchildren, and she will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Larry A. Miller, Sr., whom she married December 30, 2002; three sons: Timothy Boarts and wife, Cyndy, of Saltsburg, Kenneth Boarts and wife, Valerie, of New Kensington, and Jerry Boarts and wife, Melissa, of Avonmore; daughter, Susan McGuire and fiancé, Don Shondelmyer, of Saltsburg; five step-sons: Bud Miller and wife, Judy, of Apollo, Grant Miller and wife, Tracy, of Washington Township., Rich Miller and wife, Sue, of Vandergrift, Jim Miller, of Springdale, and Oscar Miller, of Leechburg; two step-daughters: Pat McAfoose, of Kittanning, and Annie Johnston and husband, John, of Apollo; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Ralph Ross and wife, Joann, of New Kensington.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM tomorrow - Thursday, July 23, 2015 - at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home in Elderton.

Additional visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of funeral services at 11AM on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul M. Reiner officiating.

Interment will follow at Gastown Lutheran Cemetery in Shelocta.
