Manor Township Supervisor Announces Commissioner Candidacy

Pat Fabian, a lifelong resident of Armstrong County and current Manor Township supervisor, yesterday announced his candidacy for Armstrong County Commissioner in the coming election.

Fabian, 38, has worked at Family Counseling Center in Kittanning the past 15 years after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree from Gannon University in Special Education and a Masters of Arts degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Community Counseling.

But, he credited his leadership within Manor Township as what voters should focus on.

“As a Manor Township Supervisor, my experience and record reflects my ability to reduce costs, demonstrate fiscal responsibility, and work with old and new businesses to increase the township’s tax base while refraining from putting the tax burden on our residents,” Fabian said.

Fabian believes his experience at the township level has prepared him to serve as Armstrong County Commissioner and tackle issues such as enhancing tourism and maintaining recreational traffic through the Allegheny River locks, evaluating the cost benefit of county-owned buildings and properties and supporting local police forces.

“I am frustrated with the lack of progress in the area and seeing our young people leave and not return. I look at our neighboring counties and see growth everywhere,” Fabian said. “I plan to have an aggressive approach that will create an environment that encourages business growth and creates jobs. I believe this starts with reaching out to every township, borough, and municipally.

As commissioner I will develop comprehensive plans for growth throughout the county. I will work to bring people together to create the growth and positive change that this county needs.

I am getting involved in the county commissioner race with the intention to put the “strong” back in Armstrong. I want to make Armstrong County a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Fabian, who was encouraged to run for election, has also been an advocate for expanding police coverage, which has increased each of the past three years.

Glad to see a young, focused, and energetic gentlemen come to the table! What really is needed as Mr. Fabian said is to keep the youth within the county and build comprehensive plans that will incorporate economic growth! Kudos Pat! Remember we are in the Pittsburgh Metro Area.

It is clear that Manor Township is thriving under the leadership of Pat Fabian. He appears to have the experience, energy, and ambition to lead our county forward. It is exciting to see a younger person take on these types of leadership roles, I wish him well.

I like how Pat Fabian mentions that he demonstrated ‘ fiscal responsibility ‘ and he seems like a good candidate.
Due to recent events we know that one of the candidates has not demonstrated fiscal responsibility….

I’ve only known Pat for a few years and I’ve been impressed with him since day one. I’m looking forward to the leadership and energy he can bring to the County and I’m convinced he is right for this job. We need some new ideas for this county. So much opportunity and Pat sees it. Glad to hear he’s running.

Pat Fabian sounds like my kind of candidate. A lot of the same stuff that I’ve pushed on the KP site over the years:
    1) reducing government costs
    2) demonstrating fiscal responsibility
    3) increasing tax base by working with businesses rather than taking more tax dollars from residents
    4) enhancing tourism
    5) recreational river traffic
    6) cost/benefit of county-owned buildings and properties
    7) supporting police
    8) frustrated with lack of progress in the area
    9) young people leaving and not returning
    10) growth in neighboring counties, but not here

An alarm should go off when the two major employers in a county are the hospital and the school system. Each is a ‘service’ - one fixes broken people and the other educates people. Neither manufacture any type of product. We used to manufacture glass and porcelain products here - those products that built this area.

So, Pat Fabian sounds like my kind of candidate.

Of course, when Dave Battaglia was running, he sounded like my kind of candidate - the independent conservative - and my property taxes have doubled in Kittanning Township and that is a windfall for both the county AND the school district.

So, will we finally get some good people to run?
