The fourth-annual “Fantasy of Lights” will light up Ford City streets tomorrow night.
Beginning at 2PM downtown, children’s activities, craft and non-profit booths and music will be available for local residents and visitors to enjoy.
Father John Gribik, from St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, will dedicate the Pathway of Lights shortly after the welcome announcements.
Starting at 2PM, there will also be eight musical performances during “When You Wish Upon a Star”– such as from Lenape Elementary, Divine Redeemer and Ford City Junior/Senior High School along with ‘Miss Armstrong County’ Anna Oberneder and ‘Miss Armstrong County Outstanding Teen’ Madison Kunst – around the narrated “When You Wish upon a Star” story and arrival of characters – including Santa Claus – and the town lighting.
First Church of Ford City (Corner of 10th Street and Fourth Avenue) will be opening its doors to warming facilities for all—with free warm drinks and children’s free craft activities, such as a Christmas card, Christmas ornament, and cookie decorating
Activities beginning at 2PM include liquid nitrogen activities – including ice cream – through the Carnegie Science Center of Pittsburgh, face painting courtesy of Jeannette Stitt and Happy Home Child Care and other treats.
The National Aviary will also return about 4PM with a “Meet and Greet” Penguin Encounter.
Throughout the evening, rides on a horse and carriage and the local fire engine will also be offered, along with an ice sculpting demonstration.
At 6PM, Santa Claus will meet with local children to hear their holiday wishes in the former Greenbaum Building along Ford Street, as well as a free treat and opportunities for photos.
Renaissance Committee Co-Founder Paul Klukan said Santa Claus will allow for children to be more active in the evening events this year.
“Santa is going to stay out in the crowd this year,” Klukan said. “We can’t say how he’s arriving.”
Group organizers hope for a large turnout tomorrow night.
“Our sincere “wish” is to have our best crowd ever to rejoice in the celebration of the Christmas season-to celebrate those businesses that support our community and to share in the blessings of small-town life with family and friends,” they wrote on social media.
Free hot chocolate, popcorn and cookies will also be available thanks to many local businesses and non-profits.
Cub Scout Pack 670 will be hosting a booth for collection of donations to benefit Mechling-Shakley Veteran’s Center in Cowansville. Needed items include twin size bedding, toiletries, and canned goods.
