OBIT: Louis A. “Lou” Gispanski (Kittanning)
Louis A. “Lou” Gispanski, 79, of Kittanning, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Armstrong County Health Center.
He was born on August 11, 1935 in West Kittanning, the son of Joseph C. and Esther A. “Bess” (Palinski) Gispanski.
Lou was a lifetime resident of the area and was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Kittanning where he was an usher for close to 50 years. He graduated from Kittanning High School in 1953 and went to work at Pullman Standard. He then became an inspector for PennDOT in Indiana County where he worked for over 30 years retiring in 1991. Lou and his wife Sandy enjoyed camping together. They camped for forty years at Rustic Acres in Clarion enjoying many fun times with their friends. Lou was a handyman who could fix anything; he enjoyed Polka music and feeding the birds.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandy (Emmonds) Gispanski whom he married March 31, 1960; sister Jean Ferrara of West Kittanning; special niece, Annette Ferrara and husband Jerry O’Leary, niece, Paula Emmonds and husband Scott; nephews John Gispanski and wife Susan, Joe Gispanski, Jr. and wife Kathy; sister-in-law, Marie “Bobbie” Gispanski and the Emmonds family.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joseph A. Gispanski, Sr.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Bauer Funeral Home in Kittanning.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at St. Mary, Our Lady Guadalupe Church, 101 W. High St., Kittanning, with the Reverend Douglas E. Dorula as celebrant. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
Contributions may be given in Lou’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
