The Housing Authority of the County of Armstrong announces the opening of the Section 8 Waiting List for income-eligible families.
The Section 8 Voucher Program is a rental subsidy program helping tenants pay rent in privately owned dwellings that meet specific housing quality standards. Eligible tenants sign a lease with a private landlord, and the landlord signs a contract with the Housing Authority to allow subsidies to be paid directly to the landlord on the tenant’s behalf. The tenant’s portion of the rent is based on 30% of adjusted family income.
To qualify, families must meet income guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Completed applications will be placed on the waiting list according to local preferences and date and time received by the Housing Authority.
Applications are available at Armstrong County Senior Centers in Apollo, Dayton, Distant, Brady’s Bend, Elderton, Ford City, Freeport, Kittanning, Leechburg, Parker, Rural Valley, and Worthington. They are also available at public libraries located in Apollo, Ford City, Kittanning, and Worthington.
Applications are also available at the Housing Authority Main Office at 350 South Jefferson Street, Kittanning, PA 16201 or at www.hacarmstrong.org. Interested families may pick up applications at these locations or request that the application be emailed or faxed to them. Completed applications must be returned to the Housing Authority office by mail, email, fax, or in person.
Any questions concerning the application process must be directed to the Housing Authority at 724-548-7671 or email dvizzini@hacarmstrong.org.
