OBIT: “Freda” J. Peresie
Elfrieda “Freda” J. (Walters) Peresie, 93, of Kittanning, died on Thursday, May 09, 2013 at the Kittanning Care Center.
She was born on September 7, 1919 in Ford City, a daughter of Thirby and Anne (Reitler) Walters. She lived in Rural Valley for 39 years, then spent the next 28 years at R.D.2 Kittanning.
She was formerly employed at PPG Industries in Ford City until she and her husband started a family and she became a homemaker.
She is a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church in Kittanning.
Freda loved crocheting, knitting, sewing and cooking. When she was forced to, she also went hunting. She loved being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters: Beverly (James) Cogley of Ravenna, Ohio, Sandra (Arthur) Hughes of Renfrew, and Rhonda (Arthur) Delano of East Brady; a son: Joseph R. Peresie of East Brady; grandchildren: Terri (Joseph) Coco of Topton, PA, Mark J. Cogley of Ravenna, Ohio, Matthew (Nicole) Delano of Gainesville, FL, Benjamin (Mary Theresa) Delano of Colorado Springs, CO, Stephen Hughes (fiancé Maria Rugaber) of Davie, FL, Douglas Hughes (fiancé Amber Hannold) of Erie, and Christopher Hughes of Renfrew; great-grandchildren: Mark Cogley Jr of Ravenna, OH, Brook Ann, Joseph, & Noah Coco of Topton, PA, Luke, Grant, & Dominic Delano of Colorado Springs, CO, and Gabriella & Josephine Delano of Gainesville, FL.
She is also survived by her sister: Shirley Lemmon of Chicago, IL; and her brother: Thirby (Anna) Walters, Jr. of Ford Cliff.
In addition to her parents, Freda was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Peresie who died in 2010; brothers: Leonard Walters, Leroy Walters, Kenneth Walters, Edward Walters, and Clark Walters; sisters: Sarah Zermaine, Delores Perchelli, and Evelyn Tomaswick.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning. Parting prayers will be at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, May 14 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church in Kittanning, with Celebrant Father Daniel Blout.
Interment will take place in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
