OBIT: Rachael C. Sedwick (formerly of Kittanning)

Rachael C. Sedwick, 93, of Grove City, formerly of Kittanning, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Grove City Medical Center.

She was born November 3, 1919 in Pittsburgh, to Fredrick T. and Eunice (Barnhart) Diddle.

Rachael lived most of her life in Kittanning before moving to Grove City.

She devoted her life to caring for her family and was also very involved in the community. She was a member of the First Church of God, Kittanning and attended North Main Street Church of God in Butler.

Rachael was the district treasurer for the Women’s Missionary for the Union Avenue United Methodist Church and was also a parishioner for the church.

From 1973 to 1999, she volunteered with the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and held the office of president from 1986 to 1988.

She enjoyed watching television and reading her Bible.

Rachael and her long-time friend, Dorothy Weaver, were known as the “Television Ladies.”

Rachael loved spending time with her friends and family and formed many close relationships with people throughout her life. Rachael’s family and friends will never forget her passion for life and her caring, loving spirit.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Cinda (John) Benton; five grandchildren: Diane (David) Hunter, William (Carol) Benton, Randal (Jackie) Benton, Jill Benton and Ann Pfund; nine great-grandchildren: Adam (Jessica) Benton, Amanda (Wade) Potsubay, Tyler Hunter, Alex Benton, Mitchell Hunter, Sarah Hunter, William Longava, Victoria Longava and Todd Benton; great-great-granddaughter, Kellynn Potsubay; two brothers: Gerald (Lucille) Diddle of Overland Park, Kansas and Donald (Suzzanne) Diddle of Gaithersburg, Md.; sister, Patricia Koosher, of Uniontown; brother-in-law, Garth Stamm, of Oneonta, NY; and many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 65 years, William G. Sedwick, who passed away August 22, 2003; four brothers: Dr. Kenneth Diddle, Robert Diddle, Rev. Wilbert Diddle and Rev. James Diddle; and four sisters: Mildred Wienel, Dorothy Miller, Genevieve “Amy” Skinner and Erma Jean Stamm.

Friends will be received from 1PM until the time of funeral services at 2PM Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., in Kittanning, with the Rev. John W. Snyder officiating.

Burial will be in Kittanning Cemetery.
