7/2/1963- Reverend Robert S. Lash, recently assigned to First Methodist Church in Kittanning, began his pastorate here Sunday, coming to Armstrong County from Verona, Allegheny County. Rev. Lash, his wife, and 2 daughters, Rita Lynn, 8, and Kathy Sue, 3, will move into the Jefferson Street parsonage on Saturday.
7/2/1963- The Kittanning Town Council has accepted a proposal of R.P. Shannon and Associate ones, to prepare detailed drawings of about 35 blocks of town streets.

7/2/1958- Dayton- John E. McElhoes, an instructor in the Penns Manor (Clymer) School, has been elected as high school principal of Dayton Joint School District. McElhoes began his duties yesterday.
7/2/1963- John Ellenberger of Boggs Township was named chairman of the Young Republican ones of Armstrong County as they met in a reorganizational session at Armstrong County Courthouse.
7/2/1963- Ford City- A Ford City native one, his wife, and 11 month old daughter will leave for Belgium where they will study for a year before taking up missionary duties in East Central Belgian Congo, Africa. They are Rev. Jesse D. King, his wife Ruth, and daughter Linda.
7/2/1953- Lions Club president A.P. Merwin will conclude his term of office and turn his gavel over to Carl L. Gerard, Kittanning RD 5.

7/2/1953- Alfred Gregory, 73, vice chairman and director of Pittsburgh and Shawmut Railway Company, died at Orange Memorial Hospital, Maplewood, NJ.
7/2/1948- Police authorities were searching for a hit and run driver whose car early this morning struck and killed Floyd R. Roudybush, 55, of Kittanning RD one. The accident happened Johnstown Avenue, about 1,000 feet south of the borough limits.
7/2/1948- Combined Kittanning fire companies make brilliant splash in new red outfits. More than 750 people take part in 2 mile long Firemen’s Parade.
7/2/1943- One of the 400 knives donated by Armstrong County residents for use of American soldiers during a recent collection campaign conducted by Armstrong County Hunting and Fishing Club with the aid of American Legion Posts, is the prized possession of a Kittanning Legionnaire’s son, now stationed in England. A long bladed weapon donated by Joseph Futcher, a member of the American Legion Post of Kaylor, was given by chance to S-Sgt. Philip Enterline, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Enterline of Union Avenue.
7/2/1943- Washington- The office of Price Administration brought the food shortage home to the public by increasing the point values of all meat except pork.
7/2/1938- A dozen building contractors in 3 states submitted bids for a general contract to remodel the old McCullough building on Market Street now the property of G.C. Murphy Company. The Kittanning Supply Company building will be remodeled at the same time.
7/2/1938- Foundation and structure of a new tipple of the Ringgold Mining Company at Timblin have been completed. The machinery and equipment are being installed.
7/2/1928- The Heilman Lumber Company of Ford City will occupy a vacant store room on Market Street, next to the Lincoln Hotel.
7/2/1928- Pennsylvania bass season opened with probably more bass in the stream than in a quarter of a century. Creel prospects were poor due to a high and muddy water.
