Freeport Man Faces Six Dozen Drug Charges

Dylan McCoy

A Freeport man will be charged with 80 drug violations in June.

Dylan McCoy, 19, was arrested by Freeport Borough Police December 11, 2011 after officers found marijuana and Vicodin during a traffic stop. McCoy permitted the search through the vehicle, which is reportedly registered to his parents.

According to the criminal complaint, the search came after Patrolman Johnathan Freel visibly-recognized marijuana in McCoy’s car door and asked if more was inside the vehicle.

Freel and another Freeport Borough officer searched the vehicle and found six bags of marijuana, three empty plastic bags, 21 Vicodin pills, a multi-colored glass pipe and a metal grinder inside McCoy’s backpack.

McCoy does not have a prescription for the drugs.

Buffalo Township police also assisted with the traffic stop.

Lab results have not yet come back to District Magisterial Judge Gary DeComo’s office, so a preliminary hearing supposed to be held last week has been continued until 10:30AM June 12.

McCoy was incarcerated for one day in December 2011 before posting a portion of his $15,000 bail.

In all, McCoy was charged with 27 counts of misdemeanor drug possession, 27 counts of felony delivery, 13 counts of drug paraphernalia and 13 counts of drug delivery intent. He was also charged with two summary driving offenses after he did not stop at a posting sign nor use his turn signal.

This is like a broken record… Bet there are some proud parents. Know what my Dad would have done to me, police wouldn`t have been needed and I wouldn`t have done it EVER again. I respected my parents and wouldn`t have shamed them, well, not twice anyhow. Thank you.
