Local residents will now see some upcoming events and town hotspots as the county bus rolls by.

Acting General Manager Patti Lynn Baker said advertisers are helping Town and Country Transit raise income and save for the future.

“We’re not getting a ton of income, but yet we’re getting some, which is better than nothing,” Baker said. “This actually goes toward our local match for some capital projects, which is really great.”

In March, the Armstrong County Community Foundation, H&R Block and Lenape Heights Golf Course became new advertisers for the transit authority. A deal was also made with Express Printing to display an advertisement for the Kittanning Fireman’s Band, who are planning a trip to Washington D.C. this summer.

Operations manager Gerry Miller said he is happy with the support.

“We’re pleased – it took a while to get off the ground, but it’s going pretty well now. We have eight or nine different advertisers.”

Baker said the advertisers are consistently assisting the buses.

“That’s something we’re seeing every month,” Baker said. “It’s relatively new, but yet we’re seeing consistent income.”
