A cooperative effort between Knights of Columbus, Divine Trinity Council 17178, Loyal Christian Benefit Association (LCBA), Branch 1425, and Ford City St. Vincent DePaul delivered 65 meals to shut-ins from Christ Prince of Peace Parish, Ford City; St. Lawrence Parish, Cadogan; and St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish, Ford City.
This effort was started by a small group of parishioners last year and was transferred to the Knights of Columbus this year after overwhelming success and gratitude of the meal recipients. Meals consisted of pork and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a bag of cookies. They were delivered by teams from the Knights of Columbus and LCBA, while St Vincent DePaul covered the expense of the meals.
Participation by both groups for preparing and delivering the meals was excellent with 25 members to cook and 28 to deliver.
Those receiving meals were very surprised and appreciative of being remembered by the Catholic Community during the New Year.
