Eddie Money played a concert at Kittanning Riverfront Park on June 24, 2017 to one of the largest crowds ever assembled for an Arts on the Allegheny performance.
When Eddie Money came to Kittanning on June 24, 2017, thousands came by land and sea to experience his concert. This weekend, fans memorialized the death of the man who had a uniqueness to his voice.
Eddie (Edward Mahoney) Money, was best known for 1977 chart-topping hits such as “Two Tickets to Paradise” and “Take Me Home Tonight.”
His family said he was battling stage four esophageal cancer and he “passed away peacefully” on Thursday.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York and attempted to follow in his father’s footsteps by becoming a NYC police officer. Two years later, he moved to California to pursue his dream of being a musician. Money had 11 songs that reached the top 40 between 1978 and 1992. He was able to attract fans of all ages because of his unique style of musical performance.
Although he couldn’t pronounce the name of “Kittanning” when he was here, he said he was touched by the genuineness of the community.
