07/26/1969 – Interested parents, w ho gathered at the Glassworkers Union Hall last night to discuss the teen-age dances in town, formed a committee “to look into the teen-age problem and provide supervised recreation.” 75 persons that included 60 women attended the meeting. Boys and girls have been in the park as late as 4AM after dances. Father Tom said “Youth today want a certain amount of guidance and a certain amount of discipline, but don’t want parents to overdo it.” Adolph Marcinek said the parents today are following a code that is 40 years in the past. “Parents are too strict Children 14-18 years old should be allowed out to 11PM during the summer. Don’t step on their toes if two or three are out on the corner. Leave them alone.”
