07/16/1969 – Three volunteers have stepped forward to help with Kittanning’s sewage billing headache, which was taken over entirely by the borough this year, and also give a hand with clerical-typist duties. All wives of borough officials, are doing the work which had been passed around to at least three different firms for processing on their sophisticated billing machines: Mellon Bank, McCreary Tire, and Black and Yount.

07/16/1969 - Mrs. Anita Manson of Slate Lick recently received the Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Inter-American University in Puerto Rico.
07/16/1969 – Army Specialist 5 John Krecota, 20, a combat infantryman, returned home under President Nixon’s troop withdrawal order. The six-foot-two, 130 pound soldier flew back from Vietnam where he earned the Purple Heart, Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and recommendations for a Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal. Krecota is the son of John and Catherine Krecota of Yatesboro.
