Kittanning Councilwoman to Serve on State Executive Board

Kittanning Council President Kim Chiesa has been elected to serve on the state Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Association of Boroughs.

Kittanning Borough Manager Cyndee McDermott announced the election of Council President Kim Chiesa to the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs (PSAB) Board of Directors.

The position was previously held by Anthony Defilippi from Leechburg Borough, who has retired.

Chiesa was appointed as the representative from Armstrong County to the Regulations and Resolutions committee. The resolution process at the PSAB is important because it helps boroughs gain access to programs, funding, and educational resources. Resolutions can be submitted by individual boroughs or County Borough Associations (CBAs). These resolutions are submitted prior to the annual conference where Chiesa will be involved in the legislative process to consider these resolutions for formal adoption by the full delegation.

“This is an honor for an elected official to serve on this board, which is represented by every county in the Commonwealth,” McDermott said. “Congratulations are in order for Ms. Chiesa being willing to accept the position. We believe she will represent Armstrong County well.”

Chiesa had only praise for her predecessor.

“Tony Difilippi served in borough government for 51 years,” Chiesa said. “He made the decision now to step down. Without him, I wouldn’t be where I am with PSAB. I thank him for many years of dedication and service.”
