At its regularly scheduled meeting held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, the ARIN Intermediate Unit 28 Board of Directors completed the following.
NEW BUSINESS
Under new business in the area of Personnel, three resignations, one employment, three changes in employment status, and one volunteer, were discussed and acted upon as follows:
Resignation
Approved and accepted, with appreciation for their service to this Intermediate Unit, the resignations of:
Ms. Autumn Booths, full time teacher of the visually impaired, retroactive to
November 9, 2018;
Ms. Tammy Blumling, full time instructor in adult programs, retroactive to November 16, 2018; and,
Ms. Autumn M. Kirsch, part-time (hourly) English as a Second Language K-12 instructor, retroactive to October 20, 2018.
Employment
Approved and authorized conditionally the employment of Ms. Tammy Blumling, as a full time instructional paraprofessional (new position) retroactive to November 19, 2018. Ms. Blumling’s hourly rate will be $10.30 per hour and her benefits will be in accordance with the AESP collective bargaining agreement.
Change in Employment Status
Approved and authorized a change in the employment status of:
Ms. Shelley Strobel from part-time (60%) school psychologist to full time school psychologist retroactive to October 22, 2018;
Ms. Hilary Hubbard from full time family educator to part-time instructor in adult programs effective December 1, 2018; and,
Ms. Darcey Mains from part-time (hourly) instructor in adult programs to full time instructor in adult programs effective December 17, 2018 at a salary of $29,388 prorated to days worked.
Volunteer
Approved and authorized the volunteer tutor services of Mr. Frank Vivier by the ARIN Adult Education programs. He will serve as volunteer for the 2018-2019 academic year and will be supervised by Ms. Kathy Monko, Director of Early Childhood, School and Community Services. No cost will be incurred by the Intermediate Unit.
BUSINESS
The ARIN board discussed and acted upon the following resolutions:
Granted such “tenured status” as applicable. The following professional employee has satisfied the requirements, as dictated by PDE, laws, and regulations, to become a professional employee with ARIN IU 28: Megan Frycklund, Emotional Support Teacher.
Approved and authorized Executive Director, James J. Wagner, to enter into agreement with Montgomery County IU 23 for acceptance of Middle School Success: Path to Graduation (P2G) grant funds for ARIN’s participation in P2G. The amount of the grant is $3,500 with additional funds as they become available to pay for trainings for the 2018-2019 school year. These grant funds will be used to provide resources for IU Training and Consultation (TAC) support for our school districts involved with P2G.
Agreed that Ms. Kimberly Rode, Director of Special Education effective December 1, 2018, can supervise personnel outside of the Supervisor of Pupil Personnel area function due to the fact that she holds a Letter of Eligibility, as per the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s recommendation.
Approved and authorized ARIN’s Comprehensive Plan for 2019-2022.
Approved and authorized the administration to pay all bills including those which would accrue finance charges/interest or would result in a discount if paid prior to the next scheduled meeting in January 2019, and, to finalize all settlements and to pay any claims; and, be it further resolved, that documentation listing all bills paid and transfers made will be presented to the Board at its meeting in January 2019.
Approved and authorized rescheduling the ARIN IU 28 Board of Directors’ January Meeting, from January 15, 2019 to January 29, 2019.
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at the ARIN IU 28 Central Office at 7:00 PM.
