Paving Project in Progress in Kittanning

Another phase of paving has begun in downtown Kittanning.

Equipment was in place on Monday morning to mill down the old pavement to prepare for a new surface by Shields Asphalt.

The Borough distributed letters last week to notify businesses, residents, and parking permit holders that the paving project would begin on Jefferson Way from Jacob Street to the McKean Street parking lot and Dewey Alley from McKean Street to McKean Way.

Armstrong County Planning and Development Interim Executive Director Carmen E. Johnson told Kittanning Council earlier this month that the project is fully funded.

“With the funds that are available and the cost estimates, we would have about $556 remaining in case there are any cost over-runs,” she said.

Completion of the project this week is weather dependent.
