Fire and ambulance workers staged river rescue operations at the Kittanning Boat Launch in search of a person thought to be in the river. (Submitted)
A report that a man had threatened to jump off the Citizens Bridge in Kittanning brought out emergency rescue crews last night in the midst of a steady rain. Fire trucks and rescue boats were staged at the boat launch. However, Kittanning Hose Co. #1 Fire Chief Gene Stephens hesitated putting boats into the water due to the amount of debris flowing in the river that could harm emergency workers. He continued to ask for verification if the person had actually jumped. Finally several boats were launched as volunteers walked the shore line in the search. The gentleman was found unharmed north of the bridge in Kittanning Riverfront Park.

The missing person was found unharmed in Kittanning Riverfront Park, north of the Citizens Bridge.
