7/24/1968 - Driver examinations were given to 72 persons by state police yesterday at their testing station at Ford City Armory. Of the total, 54 passed and 18 failed. Fifty-five persons applied for learner permits.
7/24/1968 - Armstrong School District officials said that it imposes no heavier a tax burden on those who must support it, comparable to other districts. School officials did the survey on tax structures, public relations director Gerald R. Shuster said, because the question had been raised as to whether the tax burden in Armstrong is out of proportion to taxes in other neighboring districts.

7/24/1963 - Kittanning and Ford City American Little League all star teams won their games by 2 point margins last night and advanced to tonight’s semifinals in the District 7 playoffs. Kittanning blanked Indiana National 2-0 on the loser’s field whilst the Ford City team won at home over Apollo, 3-1.
7/24/1958 - An estimated 400 tons of debris from the Leechburg city dump descended on the village of Georgetown during Tuesday night’s rainstorm, causing heavy damage, according to James White, PA Dept of Highways superintendent in Armstrong County.
7/24/1958 - Ford City- A Ford City family spent a month’s vacation travelling 7,000 miles, thru 18 states whilst motoring to visit relatives in CA. They were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Novak and children, Tory and Michael, of 1325 5th Ave, Ford City.

7/24/1943- 8 service stars will be displayed soon in the front window of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Helm of Cowansville. Robert Helm, who celebrated his 17th birthday recently, enlisted in the Navy this week and will begin “boot” training probably before 3 August. His older brother Paul was inducted into the Army at Pittsburgh on Thursday and will begin training 12 August. They will join 5 brothers and a brother in law now wearing uniforms of American fighting men.
7/24/1943- Lt. Robert W Kline, who practiced medicine in Kittanning for nearly a year, left Pittsburgh by train Friday night for Jefferson Barracks, MO, where he has been assigned for military duty with the Army Air Force.
7/24/1933- A 7 yr old Kiski Twp boy drowned Saturday in the swimming pool at Griftlo Park. The boy, William G Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. AW Miller of near Leechburg, had been dead for about an hour when his body was recovered.
