Unidentified sources in Ford City are reporting that Police Chief Michael Greenlee has resigned.
Former Police Chief Roger Wright resigned August 15, 2016 to work as a full-time patrolman for Clarion Borough. Greenlee was originally hired as a
Ford City part-time officer in April 2016 before being promoted to Officer-in-Charge following Wright’s resignation.
In September 2016, Greenlee was selected as the new Police Chief of Ford City Borough by Council. He received a three-year contract, $50,000 annually, a six-month review and then annual (review), annual increases tied to measurable milestones or goals, two weeks vacation, holidays the same as the borough, a $500 uniform allowance, full benefits, pension, three personal days and five sick days.
In November 2016, Greenlee was hired as the Interim Borough Manager, and continued as the Borough Manager after six months. During his tenure as borough manager, he initiated several grants for playground and trail improvement. He also brought vendors into town for “First Friday” events throughout the summer months that proved highly successful.
In December 2016, Greenlee’s police department was recognized for community traffic safety efforts by the AAA automobile club.
However, over the past year, reports of harassment by his officers surfaced, including one law suit by local businessman Roch Mantini against the department and the borough.
Sources said Greenlee’s resignation had nothing to do with the recent allegations, but rather that he accepted a job with another unidentified company.
Formal acceptance of his resignation is expected to take place at the next Ford City Borough Council public meeting.
