
Maggie Byers and Grace Williamson received the distinguished “American Citizenship Award” issued by Pennsylvania Senator Don White during a final assembly at Elderton Elementary School on June 7.
Two girls received a special award at the final school year assembly at Elderton Elementary School on Thursday, June 7.
The American Citizenship Award was presented to Maggie Byers, daughter of Ryan and Paula Byers, and Grace Williamson, daughter of Matt and Mikael Williamson.
Both girls are 6th grade students (going to 7th grade at West Shamokin next year). Awards were presented by their teachers: Mrs. Kim Sharp, Mrs. Patti McCausland (wife of Kevin McCausland), and Mrs. Jill Tedesco. Neither Senator Don White nor District Magisterial Judge Kevin McCausland were not present for the ceremony.
The American Citizenship Award is presented to students who are chosen by their classroom teachers. The award recognizes student who possess strengths of Attitude, Behavior, and Character within the classroom environment and community.
The student participates in school and civic activities, shows a positive attitude toward classmates, school, and the community.
The award also recognizes Honesty, Compassion, and Respect. The student promotes courage to others and what it means to be a leader.
