$55,000 Grant Approved for Freeport Parks

The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) awarded a $55,000 grant for improvements at several parks in Freeport, according to Senator Don White and Representative Jeff Pyle.

Freeport Borough received the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program grant for improvements, including: replacing playground equipment and repainting lights at the James Swartz Memorial Field and Playground; and, installation of benches, picnic tables and trash receptacles at 2nd Street Extension Park, 5th Street Bike Park, James Swartz Memorial Field and Playground, and Riverside Park.

The CFA was established as an independent agency of the Commonwealth to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. The CFA holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.

Money for the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program is generated through the Marcellus Legacy Fund, which distributes impact fee revenue to projects across the state.
