Police Say Cop Killer Wasn’t in Kittanning

BREAKING NEWS: Rahmael Holt has been captured by police at his home in Hazelwood.

Pennsylvania State Police said rumors that the suspected killer of New Kensington Police Officer Brian Shaw was seen in Kittanning yesterday were “unfounded”.

Shaw was killed after he attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in New Kensington on Friday night. Court documents state the Jeep never stopped, but Rahmael Holt, who allegedly killed Officer Shaw, fled.

Police state Tavon Harper was driving the Jeep at the time of the incident. Harper told police that Holt fired multiple shots that killed Officer Shaw.

Holt was arrested at his home in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Hazelwood after authorities received a tip he was there. In addition, eight other people were arrested including Holt’s mother, who denied knowing Holt’s whereabouts.

There was a reward leading to Holt’s capture of $55,000 resulting in more people reporting sightings of Holt.

Facebook was buzzing about Holt being seen at a Kittanning Sheetz store and walking along South Jefferson Street. However, Pennsylvania State Police this morning said these rumors are “unfounded” and that individuals are mistaking other African-American males in the area as Holt.

Kittanning Police Officer Ken Bussard used a Facebook post last night to try to find out the source of the rumors.

“We would like to know where this information is coming from so that we can follow up on it,” he wrote.

Last night, visitation began at the Rusiewicz Funeral Home in Lower Burrell. Visitation continues today from 1-4 PM and tonight from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. His funeral will be held tomorrow, Wednesday. November 22, at 10AM at Mount St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 100 Freeport Road, in New Kensington.

A memorial fund has been established for Officer Brian Shaw. Donations are being accepted at any First National Bank or by sending a check to: First National Bank, c/o Officer Brian Shaw Memorial Fund, 110 Burrell Plaza, Lower Burrell, PA 15068.

New Kensington Police Officer Brian Shaw was 25-years-old. He had been with the police department for only one year. His funeral is tomorrow at 10AM in New Kensington. Several local law enforcement individuals told the Kittanning Paper they plan to be in attendance.

“And, jd, 8 people were arrested along with him – including his mother. Let that sink in for a while.” Jenny, “Let that sink in for a while.” What the hell are you talking about, Jenny? Was up early and saw it on channel 11 as it went down, what’s your point? Justice will be served, like I said!
Savvy, may have been a hoax, but the police have to follow every lead in the case it’s just how it’s done, right?
