Sharpsburg-based Pro Grass Site Superintendent John Kuentz told the Kittanning Paper his company is beginning work today on the new Armstrong River Hawks football field. He estimated it will take three months to complete. Bleachers Stadium Solutions from Cabot will begin foundation work for bleacher installation within the next two weeks.
ARMSTRONG - The Armstrong River Hawks football team won’t know until August exactly where each home game will be played.
According to Armstrong School District Business Manager Sam Kirk, the new football stadium will not be completed in time for the home non-conference opener against Karns City on August 25.
“We’ve approved bids for the turf, the track, the grandstands, and there’ll be approval (last) Monday night for the lights. Those things will be ready for football seasons. What will not be ready is the field house, the public restrooms, the concession stands. At that point, we’ll have to determine whether or not we want to bring in auxiliary type Port-a-Potties temporary to play football there or play another year down at Kittanning until the whole facility’s done. The Field House and that part - the restrooms, the concession stand will not be going out to bid until July. They will start to be constructed in August /September, so they will not be done for the season, so we’ll have to determine do we want to play on a field that doesn’t have those other things finished yet or do we just want to wait until the following the year.”
Kirk said the final decision of which location will play host for home games will be determined in at the last minute in August.
“The whole complex will not be done, but I cannot say whether or not we will not at least play 1 or 2 games up there just to do it, But, I also feel that we’ll still be using Kittanning Stadium this year. So, we could be using both.”
The ultimate decision rests with the nine members of the school board.
The four other home games include: Moon Area on September 1, McKeesport on September 8, Plum on September 29, and Connellsville on October 20.
Munchkin, ever hear of punctuation?
That’s a mighty long ‘ sort of ‘ sentence.
Mutchka, Call Jensen. After he’s done fixing the pumps, he get to your issues. lol
Interesting we have no grocery stores we have no movie theaters we have no downtowns we have tons of dollar stores and if we aren’t living in Mayberry we might be better off they probably have their outhouses already installed at the football field
Using port-a-potties would make the school and the team a laughing stock.
No place for hand washing would be unsanitary at it’s finest.
Have the sense to not do that.
