Manor Township Police Chief Eric Petrosky told township supervisors last night that he had a discussion with Falcon Park officials to ban this year’s dance festival.
The FantasyLand music festival known as RAVE won’t be back this year to Falcon Park, according to Manor Township Police Chief Eric Petrosky.
“For the past three years, there was a RAVE event out at Falcon Park. It’s a dance party where they dance to an electronic beat. Different DJs play and they take different drugs and lights flash for the whole weekend. They overheat, they go into overdoses - not everyone, but there are a lot of bad things that go on.”
While Petrosky didn’t give specific numbers of overdoses or hospitalizations due to the local festival, he said it has happened in other states.
“There’s parties in Ohio, where 24 people went (and) had overdoses (and) were taken to the hospital. (There are) places in California that had 18-30 injuries (and) overdoses, heat casualties and overindulgence in drugs.”
Manor Township is sending a clear message: Don’t come back to our township!
“Each year it was getting more popular,” Petrosky said. “We found out about it last year towards the beginning of August. We reacted. Worked with the fire departments, paramedics. And now we made Falcon Park aware of what goes on out there. We don’t want that in our community.”
According to Petrosky, the event is promoted by a Pittsburgh man. Eric Wade, who Petrosky said has three warrants currently out for his arrest.
“It’s a lot of things that you wouldn’t want your family to be there. I wouldn’t want my children there!”
Video of last year’s event is below. Viewer discretion is advised.
Who edits these comments? Mine now has a typo that it did not have. My comment should say *look*. Unfortunately, this is a drug party. That is the purpose of a Rave. Do a search.
The headline calling this a ” drug party” is unnecessary. I never heard of a single problem from last year’s event. My guess is that the authorities are just too lazy to deal with it so they damn the event by making it evil sounding and calling it a drug party. All they have to do is get Fjenny down there with his fjorty four and he can keep the peace. He can also keep them cattle rustlers and creepy clowns at bay. 😉
Poor kids. Nothing to do. I`m gonna eat some worms. A chat with the chief might be a good idea for the curmudgeons.
These kids do love ok like they are having fun. However, it’s not really a wholesome activity. They take the drug Ecstasy or X. It makes them want to love and touch everyone.
Well to your knowledge chief, there are that many overdoses in armstrong on a daily basis. Sit back and enjoy your retirement. You make less and the chief and now you want to save the world. Like stated above, there is nothing for people to do in this area other than dope, drink or raise hell.
How many people require medical attention or police intervention at a Pirates baseball game? A Steelers game; a concert at the arena; the Pittsburgh St Patrick’s day parade? Would you ban those activities too? Instead why don’t you do like they do and require the event to hire off-duty police officers to patrol the event while maintaining high visibility? Dave, you are wrong to label this as ‘a drug party’ in the headline and to use a viewer discretion label on the video. It’s a dance festival, young people having fun.
There are two thing for young people to do in Armstrong County:
#1 Leave
or
#2 Die
Remember though, folks, the last thing in the world we want to be is another Cranberry Twp. They boomed with development. They have job providers. They have entertainment establishments. They have all our young people. No, no. We don’t want to be like them.
Young people having fun detected! Fun stamped out! There was absolutely nothing on the video to warrant a ‘viewer discretion’ advisory. Nothing. No wonder Armstrong County is #2 per capita in the State for drug overdoses, you leave the young people absolutely nothing to do but sit around and use drugs, or argue with each other in the comment sections for older ‘adults’. You don’t even have a movie theater in this county. What a sad place to live. Young people having fun. Fun stamped out.
