Nearly a dozen County elected officials and law enforcement officers met and joined with U.S. Army National Guard officers Tuesday morning to collect those prescription drugs properly disposed of in eight community collection boxes before their safe incineration. MedReturn boxes are available in East Franklin Township, Ford City Borough, Kittanning Borough, Freeport Borough, Apollo Borough, Parks Township, Kiski Township and at ACMH Hospital. Officials part of Tuesday’s collection included (L-R, front) East Franklin Township Police Sergeant William Evans, Kittanning Borough Police Chief Bruce Mathews, County Sheriff Bill Rupert, County Detective Frank Pitzer and Freeport Police; (L-R back,) Parks Township Police, Kiski Township Police Chief Jerrod Thompson, County Detective “Butch” Roofner, County District Attorney Scott Andreassi and County Coroner Brian Myers. More than 105 pounds of medications were properly disposed of and taken outside the county.
