
The 31 swimmers on the Snyder Stingrays YMCA swim team took time off practice to smile for the camera as they prepare for their District Meet.
The Richard G. Snyder YMCA in Kittanning is the home of the Snyder Stingrays, a group of 54 Armstrong area youth (ages 4-18) who competed in 12 individual meets in the 2016-17 season will now be heading to the District Meet at Penn State University.
This season, the Snyder Stingrays have had a lot of success - including the 1st place trophy at the Valley Points Family YMCA Harvest Classic, 1st place trophy at the Indiana YMCA Sprint for the Duck, 1st place trophy at Allegheny Valley YMCA Cupid Classic, the 2nd place trophy at the 2017 Northwest Conference Section A WPYSL Championships meet and the 3rd place at the YMCA Novice Championship Meet held for 4- to 8-year-old swimmers.
Those who qualified for this weekends meet include; Abby Bauer, Evelyn Bliss and Hudson Bliss, Lauren Bowser and Ryan Bowser, Abby Burk, Eva DiMaio and Mya DiMaio, Natalie Eroh, Anderson Fabian, Zaryn Good, Jon Kamis, Emma Klingensmith, Emma Kolesar and Josh Kolesar, Leo Martino, Caleb Matus, Chloe Moore, Andy Muth and Kenny Muth, Wyatt Prunty, Sofya Recupero, Elizabeth Shafer, Bryony Shipe and Dylayn Shipe, Becca Webb and Ben Webb,Ethan Weigel and Parker Weigel, Rhylie Wolfe, Mikayla Zablocki.
According to the press release from the YMCA, “Coaches Mary Ann Lundgren and Atalie Abranovic are extremely proud of the team as a whole and of the 31 swimmers who qualified to compete at the district meet this weekend in hopes of qualifying for the 2017 Pennsylvania State YMCA Championship Meet that will be held the weekend of March 24 – 26, 2017,” the press release said.
