One Injured in Valley Township Crash

At least one person was taken by Kittanning #6 Ambulance to a regional hospital following an early-morning crash in Valley Township.
At least one person was injured following a vehicle accident in Valley Township early this morning.
Shortly after 1:30AM, volunteer firefighters from Rural Valley, Rayburn Township and Kittanning Township responded between Lauster Road and the former-Greendale Tavern site along Route 85 for a vehicle that reportedly crashed into a telephone pole.
A pair of Kittanning #6 Ambulance units were requested to respond after two individuals was involved in the crash. One of those patients, with a reported head injury, was en route by ambulance to be treated at a Pittsburgh hospital at about 2AM.
Emergency medical responders initially requested a STAT MedEvac helicopter response, but that request was cancelled.
Firefighters were also alerted of possible vehicle entrapment, but that was not found to be the case.
Power lines were also knocked onto the roadway as a result of the crash. Alltel and Windstream units were expected on scene by 3:30AM, but until then, firefighters monitored overnight traffic and set flares along the side of the highway.
PennDOT crews were also to be notified of the emergency.
