West Shamokin Improves to 2-2

by Jake Deluca

On Friday, the West Shamokin Wolves (2-2) were able to earn their second win of the season at Armagh against the United Lions (2-2) after a wild fourth quarter comeback.

The Wolves were able to score the first touchdown of the game on an explosive 97 yard rushing touchdown by Jacob Szul. The extra point was missed, giving the Wolves a 6-0 lead.

The Wolves held that lead until the second quarter, when United QB Kyle Silk scored a pair of rushing touchdowns to give the Lions a 12-6 lead heading into halftime.

By the time the fourth quarter started, the Wolves were down 18-6 after Kyle Silk scored his third rushing touchdown of the game. Luckily for West Shamokin, the fourth quarter went their way in a big way.

The fourth quarter was all West Shamokin as Denten Stubrich scored a touchdown to cut the lead to 18-12. Following Stubrich’s touchdown, the Wolves forced and recovered a fumble inside United territory, setting them up nicely for a Devin Fairman TD pass to Stubrich followed by a successful 2-point conversion.

After that series of events, the Wolves found themselves up 20-18 with less than eight minutes to go.

Jacob Szul added another touchdown to ice the game and give the Wolves a 26-18 win.

This Friday the Wolves will host the Marion Center Stingers - kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
