Weekend Route 85 Closure Rescheduled in Valley Township

The closure of Route 85 for the June 24 weekend has been rescheduled.

According to PennDOT officials, Route 85 will now close between Yockey Road and Harris Road beginning at 9PM Friday, July 8, through 6AM Monday, July 11, as part of the Sunnsyside Bridge #2 project to replace cross pipes and a small arch culvert conveying a tributary to Cowanshannock Creek.

A posted detour will be in place during the closure using Route 422 and Margaret Road.

The signalized single-lane condition and 10-foot width restriction will resume at 6AM when the road reopens Monday, July 11 and will stay active for the remainder of the project.

The project includes the replacement of the structure carrying Route 85 over a tributary to Cowanshannock Creek with a reinforced concrete pipe culvert. The project also addresses a slide in the immediate area of the structure.

This $3.08 million bridge replacement and slide repair project is being constructed by Plum Contracting, and is expected to be completed by the end of November.
