Junior Bowser

Junior L. Bowser, 93, of Kittanning, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Butler.

He was born in Huey, PA on March 23, 1923, a son of the late Clinton “Mose” and Floda “Curly” (Bobbert) Bowser. He was a lifelong coal miner and member of UMW District 2.

He was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran who served in the South Pacific on the USS Tennessee. He was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Junior was an avid gardener who loved giving away his produce and camping in Tionesta.

He is survived by his children: Sharon (Walter) Flick of Cowansville, Richard (Darlene) Bowser of Parker, Sandra (Thomas) Agar of Kittanning, Coleen (James) Berkoben of New Eagle, PA, and Brian Bowser of Kittanning.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Stephanie Flick of Leechburg, Heather (Jay) Kempf of Springboro, Ohio, the Reverend Jason (Amy) Bowser of North Carolina, Steve (Mindy) Breski of Sarver, Clayton (Tracy) Flick of Cowansville, Nicole (Brad) Long of Kittanning, Jeremy (Tara) Bowser of Parker, Justin Berkoben of New Eagle, PA, Kristi Mosco of New Eagle, PA, Karen (Randy) Rumbarger of Rimersburg, David Bowser of Rimersburg, Jamie (Dustin) Brandt of Kittanning, and Jordan (Steve) Mellor of Verona.

He is also survived by 36 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters: Garnet Van Dyke of Boyers, and Janet (Jim) Fair of Parker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Kathleen “Louise” Bowser in 2012; infant daughter: Karen Joyce Bowser; sisters: Geraldine George, Leona Bowser, Violet Bowser, and Jeannie Bowser; and brothers: Ernest, Henry, Dewey, Foster, and Norman Bowser.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning and from 10AM until the time of a funeral service at 11AM on Saturday at the New Athens Church of God of Prophecy on Route 68 in Rimersburg with the Reverend Scott Kifer and the Reverend Jason R. Bowser co-officiating. Interment will be in the Rimersburg Cemetery.
